Communities Pursuing the Other Worlds that are Possible
The Fall GEO Theme seeks to deepen awareness and understanding of the strong connections between solidarity economic activists and members of intentional communities through the common work they are doing.
- Ecovillages, generally communities with a strong ecological focus,
- Cohousing communities, which generally incorporate both private homes and shared common facilities and support neighborly connections,
- residential land trusts,
- Communes, which are 100% income sharing
- Housing cooperatives, generally expense sharing, often urban, shared housing communities, many of them focused on college students, and
- other projects where people strive together with a common vision.
That last category of intentional communities embraces what virtually every solidarity economic project is working toward.
The collection of articles and audio-visuals below tell some of their stories. We will be adding to them over the next six to nine months.
